i have a LO3 305 TBI in my 92 and i'm looking to do a swap to an LS1. currently i'm just trying to run numbers and see how much everything is going to cost me to see if it's even worth it. so far i've seen an ls1/t56 pair going for 4500 on hawk's third gen parts, and i'm looking at about 1000 in exhaust parts, more around 1500 if i end up doing electric cutouts as well. but i don't know what all i'm going to need to do to the engine as far as wiring and computers is concerned. ideally i would like to rip all that out and just put a carb on it. also further down the road, i want to turn it into a 383 stroker, and so far i've seen balanced rotating assemblies with crank, pistons, piston rods and so on for 750 on jegs. BUT, to handle that amount of power will i need to change out my rear end, axles and driveshaft? and if so, what's the most cost efficient one that won't disintegrate with stepping on the gas? any and all advice will be greatly appreciated.
