Hello, I'm new and look forward to learning about my Camaro. I own a 1989 camaro RS with t-tops. It has a 305, all stock but with the smog stuff removed. Its a nice car, I got it from a dude who bought it for his wife, and she died of cancer, she never drove it. It sat in his garage for over 10yrs. It has only 53,000 miles, I got it at 48k. I drove it to work one summer. I really enjoy it, but its not where I want it. I'm a gear head, mostly working on atvs, and dirtbikes, not a major car build yet. I've been wanting to change it.
My idea, I bought a 1977 suburban for my GF, its in good shape and she loves it. We are going to do some minor work to it this winter. I'm planing on dropping in a 350 4-bolt in it I have from an old truck. It has a nice 454 bbc in it. She needs better gas millage the main reason. I want that motor in my camaro. Light mods at first, I dont want a rocket ship. Next big thing Is I got my heart set on a manual, Camaro auto now. I've got alot of homework to do on it, and might be a very bad idea. I kinda feel like I should not mess with my minty camaro, sell it and buy something closer to what I want. But it is the nicest vehicle Ive owned, and I don't think I could sell it. The manual conversion what im worried about most, Its what I want the most. Whats a good tranny to look for? I want to get the ball going and start collecting parts. Ive got a decent job, but its still going to be a budget build. I got some quads Im prepared to sell also to invest into my car. Any input would be nice. Some posts about someone doing these swaps?

 

Id find a roller a car like that is hard to come by you can get one usually pretty cheap i got my roller for $300 check the thread in my sig

 

Yeah that would be nice, I live in SW Michigan. Have been looking, kinda hard to find, everything rusted. . Rollers still in the 1000 range on craigslist. My fiance would be happier lol, the rs would be hers, she loves the car and don't want me touching it. I'm going to be looking for a manual roller.
