1984 TA 350 swapped how to find out
I purchased a 1984 TA, has a 2007 jasper 350 rebuilt.
It looks like the oringal manifold and carb where used from the original 305. As the manifold has got pitted so bad it is sucking air and running like crap. Has to be the original units as I ran the numbers on the carb and the Qjet is from 1983 production line.
Now it is time to replace the manifold and then someone was asking me if the guy chipped the 350 in 2007 but I have no way of knowing that. How can I know if the person that replaced the engine put back on the computer and if so if they changed the chip?
My next thought is just replacing with a new carb/manifold from summit, but then I will loose the cold air intake unless I reuse the original qjet which might be just fine.
all thoughts helpful, thanks in advance

Easiest way to make sure it has the right chip in it, is to just get one at the junkyard.
Not sure about "pitted" and "sucking air" ("run like crap", I understand that though); but, if the OE manifold needs to be replaced, an Edelbrock Performer or a ZZ4 take-off (same thing, these days) is pretty much a drop-on replacement.

Sofakingdom, but if I did that, it would be for the original 305. I would like to make sure I have the right chip for the 350 in it, not the 305. I am hoping that I can tell what chip is installed in the car today. Maybe there is some machine or something that can tell that? Thanks

(0) No such machine. Fuhgeddaboutit. Wrong line of inquiry to pursue. As much a waste of time as "decoding" block stamping codes on motors known to have been rebuilt, EVEN IF there was such a thing.
(1) There IS NO "right" chip for a carbed 350 in one of these cars, because there IS NO carbed 350 in one of these cars, from GM.
(2) The 305 and the 350 use the same chip in carbed 350 applications that are similar (trucks for example). They're the same motor, just, one is neutered by leaving out the 45 most essential cubic inches.
(3) I had a 400 under that system at one time. Worked fine with the 305 (L69) chip.
(4) The chip to get is the one out of a Monte Carlo SS with the L69; VIN code G.

I would guess then my is original and not to worry about it. Guess the guy was just asking me thinking I might have tweaked it or something. thanks again sofakindom!
