I have a 91 firebird v6 auto trans and was wanting to do a 350lt1 swap with a 5 speed tran but my friend said the motor isnt an issue and its very hard to do a 5 speed swap, any of u guys know how or have done it? how dificult is it?

 

Use a V8 T5 behind the LT1. Externally, LT1s are almost identical to 1pc RMS SBCs

The issue comes from abuse. If you bang on it too hard, it will break. If this is simply to row gears on a cruiser, then a T5 will work fine

 

I did a T-5 swap on my 88 IROC. And it was a piece of cake. The hardest part was making sure I cut the hole in the trans tunnel in the right place and making it the correct size. And mind you I was 17 in high school at the time. (and yes I still have the car.)
