You can, but you'll need a V8 bell housing. And, the V6 input shaft is smaller, so you can't use a V8 clutch disk. I understand a 4.3 V6 S10 clutch disk will work with a 3rd gen V8 pressure plate.

And, you'll need to drive the car no harder than you did with the V6.

Re: V6 to small v8

That's not true. The v6 trans isn't any weaker than the v8 trans.

Re: V6 to small v8

The deeper the gearing gets, the less the torque capacity. So the V6 having a 4.03:1 first can't be as strong as the V8 2.95:1 first. case strength should be the same, shaft strength should be the same, but from the T10 to the T56 to the TKO, torque rating differs for each set of ratios offered.

Re: V6 to small v8

I'm doing this right now. You'll need a V8 bellhousing, flywheel, pressure plate and a clutch disc that is 14 spline, 1", 10.5" diameter. I got the pressure plate from Rockauto (Sachs is the brand) and the clutch is from speedway motors, part number is 91015649. I'm hoping to drop it in this weekend.
