Re: Another 305 to 350 swap!!
Haven't been on here in a while. Quick update on the car. Mechanically, it's great. Just replaced rotors and bearings on the front, you'd think it was a cadillac now
BUT, my ex-girlfriend's idiot brother backed into it on CHRISTMAS DAY and ruined the rear bumper cover and right quarter panel. But his insurance cut me a check and I now own a new set of bumper covers, a stud welder, a slide hammer, and a hammer and dolley set! I'll eventually get some pics up on here. But I wanted to let y'all know that I finally have the time and money to work on it, so I can tackle the things I should've in the first place. Like the fuel pump. I'll start off with the in-line pump has ran fine now for 6 months, no problems. But I'm cleaning it up under the hood and that pump is an eye sore and having to wait for it to prime sucks and I have a place to work on it now, so I'm going to swap the in-tank fuel pump for a FI pump and regulate it under the hood. So Ozz1967, could you help me out with what pump/parts I'll need and the procedure??

I've never put a FI pump in a carb car, but I'm gonna go out on a limb and say since you already have an in-tank pump it'll just be swapping pumps. Maybe someone else that has actually done the same swap will chime in.

Thanks for the reply, Chad. Yeah I figured it would just be a pull and replace thing, but I really want to get as much info as possible before I go taking things out, ya know? So I'm really looking for exact pump part numbers and wires etc. to get and swap out. The regulator I can handle. Just need to know what pump to buy, what will fit my tank, etc.

You might want to start a new thread in a new section about what is involved in swapping a carb pusher pump for a FI pump.

So Ozz1967, could you help me out with what pump/parts I'll need and the procedure??I would go online and find a Whalboror 255lph in-tank pump for an 82-92 Fbody. IF the wiring on the in-tank pump is good and gets power still, you can use that, otherwise you'll have to run your own relay and power.
As for a regulator, a Mallory 4309 or 4307 seem very popular. I personally run a 4307 ,model. You'll also need to by the appropriate adapters to clamp your rubber hoses to it. Everythign can be bought from Summit or Jegs. Make sure you hook up the return line. Also, get a fuel pressure gauge, one of those that screws into the regulator. Do not get a liquid filled one. When they get hot from being in the engine bay their readings can be off by as much as 2 psi. I found this out the hard way.
