My project - Swapping out a CFI 5.0 for a new 350. Also painting the car.

Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to using this website, just wanted to let everyone know about my project.

I have a 1982 Camaro Pace Car Replica. I am in the process of getting rid of the CFI 5.0 for a new 350 carburated engine. (I want a clean looking engine bay). I will also be painting the car. I am not trying to maintain the pace car style. I hope people don't get too mad at me for "wrecking" the pace car. It just happened to be a good deal when I bought it, but I want to make it look how I want it to look now.

I have never done an engine swap, nor painted a car...so go easy on me. I just enjoy working on things like this and is something I do in my spare time. Any advice/tips/comments would be appreciated! I am not looking to spend tons of money, so a lot of the car will remain stock (in terms of suspension and rear end...the motor and transmission will be new/rebuilt)

I posted some pictures below...there are some more pictures in my photo gallery. I will try to update this thread as I get more work done...it is a fairly slow going project for me though. Probably won't be totally done until next year.

This is the car i started with last year...

This is the messy engine bay after taking the engine out. It will look much cleaner when I get all this wiring crap out of here! (carbed 350 going in...)

Motor that will be going in...

Suspension parts painted...(and some other parts)

Engine bay painted...and suspension all put back together...

Close up of color...it is called GM Imperial Metallic Blue. I know I have tons of orange peel. I have never painted before, that is why I practiced in the engine bay...I'm not concerned with that being perfect.

Things look great, so far. And seeing how I'm a lazy old man and that thing looked pretty clean to begin with, I would of left the paint alone. But, that dark blue is a nice color.

Thanks! The paint looks good in the picture, but it really isn't up close. Lost of small rust spots/pinholes (I live in Minnesota...winter=bad)...and I just really don't like the grey color, seems boring to me.
