1991 Pontiac Firebird V8 build
1991 Pontiac Firebird V8 build
Alright so I have a 1991 Pontiac Firebird that has a 305 V8 in it right now, but I want to put something bigger in it. My Brother is a mechanic and has a friend whose uncle builds racing engines for a living and can get me a 383 stroker for around $1600 dollars, crate engine ready to drop or I shop around for a 350 and swap my 305 for that instead. If I go 383, will I have to worry about my Tbi or anything like that? what all will I need to consider replacing along with the engine with each of these swaps?
While I'm under there I would also think about tranny work since mine is about to go out (I have an automatic transmission), so if anyone can give me advice on what I should do tranny wise (new/rebuild/etc) that'd be great. I'm trying to keep the cost reasonable (within a couple thousand dollars), I don't want to be super expensive or cheap but I'm willing to take the extra step if it's necessary. I more want the car as a cruiser or my hotrod for date nights than to take it and race it every weekend (I still want it fast) , the three pics below are of my car by the way.

More info needed.
Your budget for starters.
Intended use ; cruiser , strip use ????
Fuel economy of any importance ???
What you CAN DO is only limited by your budget but higher Hp ( monster ) also requires spending $$$ on other parts of the drive line as well
so it will hang together so you need to take that potential cost into consideration.

Alright I changed the question a great deal regarding my current issue to narrow it down a bit, hopefully that helps.

What about suspension? Those are pretty important for better ride quality
