So what sensor were y'all talking about that I could use that was from a 92 but not the one you linked? I took it as I needed a factory 92 vss?

Also when I look up 92 speed sensors none of them pictured have gears on them. Is that supposed to be? Do I have to buy that separate?
Will one of these work with my 700r4 and the current wiring on the 92 I'm swapping into?

Are you using the 86 700r4 ? If so it is cable drive and the vss in 86 is in the speedometer.
You would need the conversion vss, or swap the tail housing , and drive and driven gears to the later model design.

Yes it's from the 86. I see that it's cable drive but where does the cable run to? The back of the speedometer? With that conversion vss do I have to use my 86 cluster?

The 92 speedometer will get its signal from the ecm pin b11.

OK but that vss conversion you linked says it mounts in between the tranny and speedo cable. Where would I run the other end of the speedo cable since the 92 speedometer is electronic?

Re: 92 rs v6 to 350 tpi swap help needed
hey there, I'm planning on doing a similar swap soon. I have 89 gta 350tpi i want to put in my 91 3.1 rs. I read about using the 91 v6 ecm if you reprogram and a 91-92 engine harness. Can I replace my v6 cluster with a v8 140mphcluster and be able to use all gauges? tranny is coming from the 89 due to it being behind a v8. sorry if im outta place posting here thanks

Re: 92 rs v6 to 350 tpi swap help needed
The answer is yes, the 3.1 and 5.7 speed density use the sane ecm the 1227730. The only difference besides the engine wiring is the memcal itself.

Hey guys I just started laying the wire harness out on top of the engine before I drop it back into the car and have a couple questions.
I noticed that I have a 2 prong oil pressure switch located next to my distributor and I have a 3 prong pigtail for it. I'm assuming I need a 92 oil pressure switch for it to work? I'm also assuming that pigtail is the oil pressure switch based on pics I looked at on google. Can I simply leave that oil pressure switch where it's at and install the 92 switch above the oil filter?

Re: 92 rs v6 to 350 tpi swap help needed
You can change the plug end to female spade. You will need to hook up the orange and grey wire polarity doesn't matter. the blue wire is for a gauge or idiot light.

Ok do I need to ground the blue wire? Will the oil pressure light stay on with it disconnected?

If you have a idiot light it will come on when the blue wire gets grounded.

I believe the heavier orange is the hot fused wire buyer your fender well. The other heavier wire goes to the fuel pump. I think the middle one is for the gauge/mil

what do i plug my o2 sensor up to? The o2 sensor i have just has a single metal prong i guess you'd say on the end of it. I've looked at some pics of o2 sensor pigtails but i dont see anything like that on mine.

the o2 on the harness side is male, it is a few inches away from the cylinder head female gauge green wire. It drops down on the drivers side runs next to the oil pan and on top of the engine mount.

i think i'll just leave it there. Are the manifold/intake air temp sensors different between 86 and 92? That's another one i can't find a connector for, located under the throttle body.

Sorry i was looking at the wrong sensor. The sensor i was looking at is for the cold start injector i believe so that's why i can't find a pigtail.

The one with the blue wire I believe grey connecter is your knock sensor. The white connecter is the passengers side fan temp sensor.

Ok so I'm onto the next obstacle. I believe the alternator pigtail is different on this harness as well. I think it's the alternator wires anyway, has heavier gauged red and black wires going to it and is also on the opposite side my alternator is on which was expected.. Is this as easy as cutting the pigtail off of my 86 harness and splicing it in place on my new harness?

Your right you will need to change the ends, the current harness is a cs alternator, the one on your engine is a Si .

Alright sweet I got that swapped. Now back to the knock sensor. You said the blue wire w/ grey connector is the ks and white connector is for the fan, well my white connector has a blue wire and the black connector has a grey wire. Which is which? Mine must be a little different.

Than I remembered the connecter body colors back azz words. Blue wire knock sensor btw you need the 350 3.9K ohm ks and grey wire to the cylinder head temp switch.

That's for the center wire left over from the ops plug for a oil pressure gauge.

ou will need to double check c100 pinout for the differences but the center wire of the ops runs to the ip gauge if equipped if not it uses a mil. I can't recall the looks of the idiot light sender and the gauge it may work either way idk.

The mat end is a weather pack 2 wire female bye the distributor . A pigtail gets used to attach the mat.
