Any suggestions to my plan

I've got a lot of time off and not a lot of money so I want to make my car faster. I have a 87 lb9 ford pink injectors with t56 and lt1 cam' flowtech headers y and small dynomax exhaust. I'm thinking about picking up a vortec 350 short block for 150 and using my 305 heads' lt1 cam and tpi intake. And then hedman 68460 true dual with summit mufflers. Got any suggestions? Would some other junkyard plentiful head be better?

I think u would be better off with the stock vortec heads when it comes to making power. If u want to keep your 305 heads so u won't have to change intakes I would understand. 416 305 heads do alright with some port work.

Try to find vortec longblock but check heads for cracks. More bang for buck there. Lt1 cam vortec 350 runs good! High 12's in right conditions

In my mind, the only way to use Vortec heads is new. They certainly do have a history of cracking being thin castings.

Yeah 305 heads would work but leaves abit to be desired. I would just find 083 l98 heads and run them. Mild cam the 305 heads would raise your compression and start to get picky with timing on pump gas. Stock L98 likes 34-35 deg and anymore may start to see knock retard and thats only 9.3:1 comp
