L37 300HP N* into a '82
Wild thought...Has anyone ever put a northstar into a third gen?
I have a 96 sts motor and trans and I am looking at getting this ----> http://boise.craigslist.org/pts/4519024618.html
Thoughts? Concerns? anything would be helpful...

Wasn't the Northstar engine for wrong wheel drive only (im probably wrong)?Idk how the bell housing bolt patern would line up either. Not a whole lot of aftermarket support for that engine. Anything is possible. Would be a unique swap reguardless

Great engine, once the block has been repaired so that the head bolts don't pull out of it. (don't bother with TimeSerts, they don't fix the basic 11mm fine thread problem)
LOTS of aftermarket support.
Same BH bolt pattern as a 60° 6-cyl.
Problems will be things like... WP is on same end as BH flange (rear of motor), intake also faces that way, accessories are all on the side that would interfere w the steering.
There are RWD versions available in, for example, CTS-V; not sure how adaptable all that stuff would be. Of course, given all the dozens and hundreds of CTS-Vs with intact engines you always see in every junkyard, shouldn't be too hard to find out.

early RWD northstar engines have been installed in 3rd. gens. . I have seen at least one . it was at a cruise nite in key largo , fl. several years ago . belonged to a young A.F. S/sgt. . I did not have time to get much info. on it . anyway it has been done .

Cadillac Hot Rod Fabricators.

Not cheap, but will help with the swap.
If you decide to do it, good luck, and take pics.
