1989 Pontiac Firebird LT1 swap!¡!
I have an 1989 Pontiac Firebird, i bought a '95 LT1 complete motor, harness and computer to swap into it. I researched the service no. on the LT1 computer, it came up (Corvette, Camaro, Firebird). I also have two other computers and harnesses, both are from '89 Firebirds. One from an '89 6cyl and one from an '89 8cyl 305. What do i have to do to make this motor work in my Firebird? Would i have to run two separate computers, one for the LT1 and one for rest of the car? Can i tune all of this into one computer and splice the harnesses together? I have never done an engine swap with TPI nor do i have any experience with computer tuning. Any help/advice is greatly appreciated!

Check out the lt1/ls1 section
Do a search for lt1 harness start to finish to see what you're up against. There are less involved routes but i don't condone them
The old ECM will be removed. The gauges are compatible with the lt1
What trans will you be running? Best two options are a 4l60e or t56. T5 will bolt up and work if you don't abuse it, but power hungry swappers should avoid it
95 lt1s came in 3 chassis, all are roughly the same in performance and fit the 3rd gen engine bay
Corvettes had alum heads and a drivers side accuracy bracket
Fbodys alum heads, pass side accys
B-body's (most common and cheapest) had iron heads and pass accys

Im planning on running a 700R4 transmission. The motor has aluminum heads. I'm assuming you mean accessory not "acuracy"brackets? Which mine are on the pass side. Im going to research that LT1 harness article now.
