84 2.8L to 01 3.8L

Had a 2001 firebird given to me, now I'm wondering, will the engines be a direct swap into my 1984 berlinetta or will I run into some issues? And if so what? Anyone know of someone doing this?? Any advice or help is appreciated. Thank you.

That swap is more difficult than an ls swap because of a lack of aftermarket support.

There isn't even a solid tutorial written up for it as far as I know. Not many have pulled it off successfully

Now what if I use the dash and fit it into my 3rd gen...that would eliminate having to use most of the wiring for the dash and what not in the Camaro. Only thing I might have issues with would be the headlights and tail lights. Right?

so many issues....I would think the wiring harness would be tricky because the 4th gen ECM is located under the hood

I've seen 100 threads here where people talked about wanting to do a 3.8 swap, bu I don' think I've ever seen anybody actually pull it off. I'd love to see a good tutorial on it, but I'm not even sure where one of those is

Well keeps your eyes peeled, cause after I get the car (firebird) up here in my possession, you'll start to see it be done...I got nothing but time with this project.

It has been done by Project: 85 2.8 bird. He had a big thread on it in the V6 forum a while back.

Here is the thread on it: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/v6/2...p-started.html

And some other stuff on it: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/325040...ntiac-firebird

The car domain link doesn't work, so the thread is useless.
