327 autocross.
buddy has a 327 I could nab off him and replace the 305.
I plan on autocrossing and want to rev.
I know the classic 327 vs 350 debate and If I am just asking this again let me know.
But if I make a 327 rev will it just run out of breath at 4,000?
does it depend on the cam, lifters, crank etc.?
Thanks.

Re: 327 autocross.
It's the same as any other small block. There's no magic in that number.
Its power band will depend on the induction system, not the CID. Heads, cam, intake, exhaust.
Then, whether that power is actually useful, will depend on the drive train. Again, not the CID. Gears, converter, transmission.
Leave behind all the romantic nonsense stories you've heard about the 60s. Think of it as a 350 that has had some of its inches subtracted and it will come into better focus.

Re: 327 autocross.
Guys who race big blocks rev to 8k+ RPMs all the time.
Hondas have a worse bore/stroke ratio than 350s do and they rev plenty high.
A 327 is just a 350 that is 23 cubic inches worse.
If you want "to rev" (which isnt really accomplishing anything in and of itself) then you want as many cubic inches as possible if it's a street car. The more cubic inches you have the easier it will be to create a high revving small block that's streetable.

Re: 327 autocross.
Is your primary interest building/replacing the engine or auto crossing? You haven't mentioned your skill/experience level, suspension, drive train, tire or brake set up. All give more bang for the buck on the track than the engine.
