305 from an 86 caprice into a 2000 v6 camaro
Ive got a 1986 caprice with a 305 sbc collecting dust and I was thinking of buying a car to swap the motor in to as its still in good shape, just dont like the car anymore. Just wondering if anyone could tell me if it would be a bolt in swap or what id have to do to get it to fit in and hook up. Its an automatic v6 car. Also the 305 being carbuerated, would it fit with the hood or would I need to get a scooped hood for the card/air cleaner? Thanks I advance. -Sean

The 3.8 has more HP than that 305 ever will. Its rated at 200 if your set on swapping engines find a ls1 and go that route. The trans bellhousing will need to be changed. The 4l60e has a removable bellhouseing and the v-6 has a different bolt pattern

The 4L60E was a piece unit until 97.He'll need a 97 or later to have a removable bellhousing.
