305/350 SWAP
305/350 SWAP
HI GUYS. I ORIGINALLY HAD 305TBI SET UP AND SWAPPED WITH A 350 BLOCK OUT OF A C15OO TRUCK. WAS A BADLY SEASONED BLOCK THAT WAS BORED .040 OVER. I HAD 305 HEADS REBUILT WITH SLIGHTLY LARGER INTAKE AND EXHAUST PORTS AND VALVES, Z28 SPRINGS TO ELIMINATE FLOATING, STOCK CAM AS WELL AND KEPT THE TBI SET UP. I HAVE REPLACED EVERY SENSOR, FUEL PUMP, AND INJECTORS. I HAVE A 305 REMAN COMPUTER IN IT RIGHT NOW, AND STOCK DISTRIBUTOR. THE ISSUE I AM HAVING IS SOMETIMES SHE STARTS ON FIRST KEY TURN, SOMETIMES IT TAKES SEVERAL CRANKS OF THE KEY. IT STILL TRIES TO START, BUT FALLS FLAT ON ITS FACE AND TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET RUNNING. DOESNT MATTER WHETHER ENGINE IS HOT OR COLD EITHER. TIMING IS 6 DEGREES....WHAT AM I MISSING HERE?? COULD I NEED A COMPUTER TUNE? PLEASE HELP!!!

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.
TBI is a speed density system, which is a little sensitive to engine displacement (and other changes). So, eventually, you should do some tuning to get it to run its best.
However, if it starts sometimes and not others, that's most likely not a tune issue (unless there is a pattern to those two, such as starting warm but not cold, or vice versa).
How old is your fuel pump? Not unheard of for them to cause intermittent starting problems.
(By the way, all caps looks like shouting. Any chance you could follow more conventional upper and lower case use?)
