The suffix code indicates it's from 1972 or 1980 which also uses a 13 digit VIN. The common 17 digit VIN wasn't used until 1981. Decoding the partial VIN on the block comes to mean.
C = Engine code but since it's a truck block, it could also be a body type in that old VIN style
8 = Last digit of model year which is probably going to be 1978

Best assumption, It's a 1970's block. If it has a 4" bore, it's probably a 350. If the casting number confirms it's a 4" bore block then that's what you have. The stamped numbers mean nothing since it's a bare block.

You can get the casting # and post it but I bet it's 3970010.
Yeah if it's a 350 just buy parts for a mid 70's, late 70's 350, if its a part store tell them a '78 c10 pickup truck
