Carbed 305 swap to 355

I have an 87 camaro with a cc quadrajet on a 305. I bought a 355 and would like to swap it in but what do I do with the computer and could the quadrajet get the engine enough fuel at high Rpms without modification. Then it comes to the fuel pump? Does that need upgrading?

The Q-Jet will work fine with a 350. Minor tuning maybe, but it's pretty adaptable.

The stock 305 fuel pump is entirely adequate. The bottlenecks in the fuel system are elsewhere.

As far as high RPM, ... that depends on your definition of "high".

It's a pretty high built motor. Someone stated that they used a regulator on the fuel but that is not needed correct? And are the tweaks to the carb hard to do or are they able to be changed easily

high built motor
Like "RPM", that all depends on your definition of "high"...

Part numbers and a list of machine work would give a better idea than "high" of the compatibility.

I agree with sofa. A lot of people think 4500-5500 rpm is "high" RPM.
Some think it's not high RPM unless it's nascar type 9000-9500 rpm

Re: Carbed 305 swap to 355

Was in a second gen camaro and taken out to be swapped to a 383 so I picked it up cheap and its build pretty well and I'd say about 5 to 6500 rpm range and he doesn't have build sheets but he's a good buddy and has most receipts of parts purchases for it

Re: Carbed 305 swap to 355

upgrade to a better aftermarket fuel pump.. otherwise, it's a bolt in operation, with maybe a custom chip being needed...
but also keep in mind that you will be severely choking it if you try to run stock exhaust manifolds and exhaust after it, so look into upgrading everything in the exhaust to better parts.
