Wiring?

Will the wiring from a 1985 RS 5.7 liter work in a 1987 2.8 liter firebird? I'm swapping out the 2.8 for the 5.7.

Thanks!

There was no 1985 RS. There was no 1985 5.7L. I don't know if someone is trying to sell you something under those premises but I'd be leery of anything he says even if it's because he doesn't know any better.

Will the harness work? There may be a few pins that need to be changed but yes, it can work. I'd suggest using an 87 harness. If its a TPI motor then find a TPI harness from an 87 and it'll slip in with no changes. If it's a carb'd 350 then you can modify your 2.8 harness to work accordingly.

Re: Wiring?

if running a carb, all you really need is the ignition power wire and the alternator wiring to make it run, but the coolant temp wire and oil pressure sending unit wires are almost the perfect length to hook up to a small block.
