Engine ID

I have an 85 T/A that had the orignal 305 block swaped for a 350 when it was rebuilt. I need to know if I have a one or two piece rear main seal. If I find the engine #'s will that work and how. Are all 350's 86 and up one piece?

Thanks for the help.

Hold your motor a little closer to your monitor, I can't see it very well...

But seriously, if somebody swapped it, no one out here is going to be able to tell you what they put in. You'll just have to look.

Get the casting number off the block, it's behind the driver's side head on top of the flange the bell housing bolts to, under the brake booster. Right out in the open. Look it up at www.mortec.com which will tell you exactly what sort of block it is. Your 85 car came with a 2-piece RMS block, and there are probably 30 or 40 times a many of those in the world as there are 1-piece RMS 350 blocks, so if I was the betting kind, I'd bet they did the easy thing and put back in what they took out which would be a 2-piece.

most people that swap use two piece seals getting harder to find a decent 1 piece seal block anymore
