Help please!!

I have a 1984 camaro sport, it came with the iron duke 4 banger. Blew it to hell!
Now have a small block 350 out of a 91 GMC sierra with the transmission from same. As well as wire harness and computer.

I have it all wired up but the plug at the firewall doesn't match and I was told to cut and splice the wires to their respective match on the original harness plug.

How ever, in doing so I have no idea what I'm doing. It turns over, but the fuel pump is not turning on and no spark.

I don't want to lose the car as I enjoy driving it when it works.

Everything is original except for the engine/trans and harness / computer.

What can I do, have already spent like $3000. And shady garage I just got it back from had stolen parts off it..(starter, alternator, transmission linkage, battery, My keys, and hacked the original harness.)

I have very little $$ to keep dumping into it, I need to fix it asap so I can move also.

Any help with this is appreciated.

I already replaced the battery , ignition and new keys, alternator, starter, I am looking into another harness, but do I need harness from the truck or v8 camaro?

Sorry, I am new to this and need it to be done right.

Re: Help please!!

This is going to require days of research on your part, noone is going to do it for you, but the info is out there.
If it was mine, I'd either put a carb on it, or raid an '88 LO3 third-gen for it's gauge cluster, PCM, harness, et cetera, and maybe put the truck PROM chip into the LO3 PCM, if using the 350 TB wasn't getting it enough fuel.
You can just run an ignition hot to the fuel pump relay, but you can't get spark so easily.

Re: Help please!!

This may help if you need any wiring diagrams. But I agree, there is a lot of info even in the engine swap section here.

I tried clicking that link and it doesn't do anything.

And I'm not asking Anyone to do it for Me, I'm just asking for help which is what this forum is for, to help each other.

And I am thinking of getting a whole new harness and pcm /chip and will look into the carb idea. As I do like carbs. Wondering if the coil and dist may be changed to a diff style or they have to be exactly sane as oem?

Re: Help please!!

Well that's because I posted the wrong link.
I don't even know where that link came from? lol
(It should be a link for Austinthirdgen .org)

Yes, for a carb you would need a stand alone (non-computer) distributor and if you have an automatic, that would need to be modified as well.

Re: Help please!!

'75-'80 large-cap HEI is the non-computer distributor of choice for GM, the trans doesn't need any mods except to re-wire the lockup, lots of online guides or just order the kit from Painless Wiring.
If you use any carb other than an '80 QuadraJet ( '81-'85 Canada spec ) you need to do something about the Throttle Valve cable linkage.

The mechanic that hacked My car cut the throttle valve off the car. So am I screwed?

Trying not to play leapfrog here, but I wouldn't drive it until you get the TV cable replaced and adjusted properly.
Otherwise you can burn out the clutch packs inside of it.

But no, the cable is not difficult to replace but may require dropping the tranny a bit so that you can get it in.
Google: adjusting TV cable to learn more about it.
