305 TPI swap

Hello. I'm looking for some advice on finishing up a 305 TBI->TPI swap.

I have a 1988 Camaro IROCZ 305 TPI (MAF) engine inside of a 1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula (which originally had a 305 TBI)

The engine wiring harness was burnt to hell in the car, pretty much beyond repair, and it lacked the relay connectors for MAF. So I'm looking around for engine wiring harnesses that would be the easiest to install or compatible. I already have the right computer/MEMCAL chip.

I've looked at Painless' GM MPFI harness (PN 60102), but it lacks the c207 connector in the passenger side under the dash. I did find a few 89' Firebird Formula 350 TPI harnesses, but my main concern is the wiring differences (i.e, the battery/EVAP cannister locations are reversed on mine compared to the 350 TPI formula firebird)

Does anyone have any recommendations for wiring harnesses that would be the easiest to install with these specifications?
Car: 1989 Pontiac Firebird Formula
Trans: Automatic 700R4
Engine: 305 TPI(MPFI) from 1988 Chevrolet Camaro IROCZ
Computer: 122 7165 (AKFR MEMCAL)

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

Is the '88 still available to you?

Unfortunately it is not. All I have is the proper ECM/MEMCAL and engine itself. No wiring harness whatsoever.

Look in the "Parts for Sale" classifieds forum, and post in the "Parts Wanted" forum. You'll want an '86-'88 MAF TPI harness ('85 may be okay as well, but I'm not sure about that) since that's what your engine and ECM are. '89 deleted the cold start injector, and '90-'92 were a different system (speed density).

Re: 305 TPI swap

305 TBI to TPI swap.

Hello all. I am in need of help; please. I have an 89 Formula 5.0 with a TBI system. I have a 91 Formula 5.7 as a donor car. What would I need to do to the 89 to convert the TBI over to TPI in the 5.0 (305)? Eventually, I will rebuild the 350 and put in the 89, but I'm just not to that point yet. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

What kind of shape is that 91 donor car? The 5.7 Formulas 91-92 were pretty scarce I believe. Is it worth saving?
