gas leak

My car leaks gas if it has over a half a tank. After driving it just drips and drips. My car guy thinks its the vent line plugged and forcing gas out. I know a hole is the easy answer but I changed tanks before and the leak is coming from somewhere above what I can see from below. anybody else had this problem with there sending unit.

Re: gas leak

Never had the problem, but it could be the fuel tank filler neck is cracked at the tank connection, or the gasket at the tank pump/sender may be bad.

Re: gas leak

The fuel fill tube is up hi on the tank and i can see the bottom of it. I gonna pull the tank down and check it. I wanted to know about the plugged vent line.

Re: gas leak

Take off the gas cap and see if it quits. If so, it's a vent problem. If not, it's a hole/crack/leak/etc.
