carbed lt-1 swap???
carbed lt-1 swap???
ok I can get a lt-1 engine from a camaro for about $900. first can this work with my q-jet. I'm looking for a direct replacement for my 305/lg4 engine, but only want to replace the longblock, I want to keep my carb and accesories. will this work or is a 350tpi a better donor motor, or should I find a 350 truck motor from a junk yard for $100 and rebuild it? what do you think

I assume you are talking about a second gen lt1? I make the same mistake and put the - in there also. If you are speeking of a lt1 which I believe you are , this could be done fairly easily. You need the lt1 carb manifold from gm performance parts, a block off plate for the opti and possibly a new distributor(I don't know if yours will work or not You might need one with a distributor gear that works with the lt1 roller cam) THey did this swap in an issue of chevy high performance with an iron head lt1. THey added a hot cam kit and got over 400 hp out of it.
Hope this helps.
