I put an 87 V6 MPFI drivetrain in my 83 firebird. It run great now but I cannot hook up the 83 wiper motor to the 87 Harness and the 87 wiper motor will not bolt up to the firewall. If I made it bolt-up there would be depth problems.

I'm thinking anyone with an 82/83 F-body who upgraded to a new V6/V8 engine would run into the same problem or similar.

I also used the 87 steering column so the switch isn't very compatible with the 83 wiper motor (83 used a ground in high, 87 used power).

I asked this question in electronics before christmass, I got the wiring diagrams I needed but they(diagrams) didn't tell me what I wanted them to.

I found in the search people have come across this problem but never posted how they relsoved it, if they did. I need To, my car's due for safty inspection.

I also e-mailed the above sponsers hoping for a specialty part. I getting sick people telling me "GOOD LUCK". I'm gonna snap!


Ideas? I'm stuck and my friend's ready to paint my car for me. All the electronic specialty automotive places are busy for a few weeks.

Easy !!!, in the computer harness that goes behid the block, there's a groud that you need to bolt on to the engine... if it's not there the wiper motor will not work ...

What color is this wire to ground?, I do have an extra wire (dk orange)coming out of computer harness behind the block where the rear fuel rail connector comes out. It got a tin lead on it, it looks like used to be part of a connector, I think it belongs on the transmission. It's -30*C outside and getting colder, If you spelled it our for me I would be so grateful.

You got my hopes up, if its really that simple it leaves extra money for better paint.
