I need help beating my brother
My brother has been putting together a 98 camaro with a head cam ls1 about 490 hp. Trans is a 4l65e 3400 stall 3.42 gears nitto 255 drag Radial, 3800 lbs race weight.
My car needs to be put back together it has not been running in over a year. The car is a 91 formula chevy 360 sportsman 2 heads 10:3 to 1, 700r4 full built 3100 stall 3.73 gear nitro 255 drag radial 3350 lbs race weight
I need to put the engine back together but I'm not sure what to put in for cam, intake and carb I have some stuff laying around from other projects or sell the parts and get different.
For the cam I have a cc306 @.050 int 229 exh 245 lift .510/.540 112 lobe sep
Or I also have a XR276HR 224/230@.050 lift .502/.510 110 lobe sep
On the intake I have an Edelbrock Performer RPM dual plane or a Holley strip dominator single plane
The to carbs are both new a proform 750 street double pumper or a Holley track warrior 650 double pumper
How would you put it together any help would be appreciated Thanks

Make sure you use something that does not leave marks or bruises

It's not just the engine - it's the entire combination.

Adjust your brother's rear brakes so they drag enough for you to beat him.

That's my thought as well... With the above mentioned parts, I don't see you catching that LS1.
With nitrous, you'd probably want the single plane. I'm not sure how either of those cams would respond, though. (although I'd be interested to see how the XR276HR responds to it - I've considered putting a 100 shot on mine with that cam). I'd probably run the 750 also, with a Zex plate under it or whatever your preferred brand is.

Re: I need help beating my brother
Scrap the sportsman heads and get a set of AFRs. Second cam is better than the first. RPM air gap. You'll probably need more stall speed and more gear. Mid 11's with traction. It will be a close race if he hooks too!
