What do you think?

I have been thinking should I just build my 350 up to my plans or just get a another 350 and build it up?

My plans
Vortec heads
Hydraulic Flat Tappet cam
a Rotating Assembly to make it a 355
and the final bolt on is a procharger

Re: What do you think?

a 355 is just a 350 that had the cylinder walls cleaned up. what's wrong with your current block that you're even considering buying another? If you do decide to buy another block, at least make it worth your while and get a hydraulic roller block (l31 out of a late 90's chevy truck)

Re: What do you think?

If you have the option, build another engine. That way you can still drive the car.
Also if your plans change, or if you just lose interest, your car is still on the road.

Re: What do you think?

Okay and why im considering is i heard from one of my friends that said you could just buy another block and build that up then sell the original 350.

I just don't know if it would be worth while to buy a another one.

Re: What do you think?

You said Procharger. Take a look around here: http://www.competitionproducts.com/C...partments/813/
In the long run, this might be the easier (and cheaper) way to go.
Check here each week: http://www.competitionproducts.com/weekly.asp

Re: What do you think?

I can give you all the parts i have in mind for my motor i would like to do this as cheap as i can.
Chevy performance 64cc vortec heads
COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Cam and Lifter Kits CL12-262-4
Eagle Street Performance Rotating Assemblies B13403E030
and the Procharger once i have the money for it

Im hoping for at lest 400hp with all of that, then 500hp after the procharger.

Re: What do you think?

Well then you have to build the short block to be able to withstand the Procharger and 500 HP. There are many thing$ you haven't even thought of yet that cost $$$$. Whatever total figure you have in mind - TRIPLE it. Anyone that has been through this before can confirm this. This is just for the engine - what about your drivetrain? Do you think you are just going to put a 500 HP bullet under the hood and keep the rest of the car stock?

The reality is that these cars were designed for 200 HP. If you want more, you have to modify EVERYTHING.
It's not like a 60s musclecar in that you can just throw a big cam in the engine and a 4 bbl intake and bil ol' Holley carb and go racing.

Re: What do you think?

I also found this after looking at that link you sent me https://www.summitracing.com/parts/h...make/chevrolet

I was thinking of just adding the Chevy performance 64cc vortec heads and
COMP Cams Xtreme Energy Cam and Lifter Kits CL12-262-4 to it and calling it a day but i would also have to pay a shop for the swaps
