The ZZ4 conversion would do away with anything computer related anyway, right? I don't see why it would make a difference.

Technically, the entire ZZ4 conversion, includes a computer and a prom for use with the CC qjet and electronic HEI. These are required along with many other components to make the conversion smog legal. If you don't want the whole conversion, then yes, A ZZ4 crate engine can work with a regular carb and vacuum controlled distributor. To see a list of all the parts included in the full conversion click the following link.

Type 10185077 in the search for parts area.

An "X" in the chart means it is needed for the conversion to be "legal"

The conversion kit does NOT get rid of the computer - in fact, it comes with a new one!

Just pick up a CC q-jet and distributor and the kit will do the rest (assuming your harness is intact). Staying CC with a performance motor like that does make a lot of sense for driveability and economy of operation reasons.
