L31 into 92 RS TBI swap questions.
So I scrapped my L98 SD setup I was gonna go with after I read a recent thread about this swap with the L31 carbed. Gonna be picking up a L31 tomorrow out of a 99 truck. Got a few questions. This is gonna be going into my 92 rs conv which had a TBI 5.0. Can I use the stock fuel pump in there now? Also I don't know anything about carbs so is there a carb I can buy which is plug and play without much tinkering with it? What would you guys recommend? Also what kind of dizzy do I need. Would be great to get some part numbers. Thanks .

Why not stay withTBI. If you upgrade it I think you would be better off.

Don’t you have to stay emissions legal ?

You will need to tune a carb. No off the shelf is tuned to a specific engine.
If your going to switch back to tbi to pass emissions it too will need to be tuned. You can datalog and provide this to a tuner so changes can be made to fueling. If your going to use a 4 barrel intake and a adapter for tbi you might have to get a cowl hood so it fits.

I use the Edelbrock 1406, 600cfm carb on my L31. I've never tuned it. Had it for 4 years now and the plugs have always looked dead on. I just drove it on a 1,300 mile highway trip and got 18 mpg. As for the dizzy, I use an Ebay new $50 one for the last 7 years.
