Throw on a little suspension work on the formula and you should have it. or take him from a 5 mph roll. thats what i do when racing my friends, my back tires are so bald i spin for 15 feet when i mash it, even from 5 i squeal. but ya, have you race him yet?

Re: 86 trans am l31/auto vs 89 formula l31/5sp?

Knowing that the L31 is extremely similar to a stock LT1 in terms of head air-flow you can use the many results out there for a Bolt-On LT1s with a Hot-Cam as an example.

I'd say the Hot-Cam is worth a solid 20-30whp over the L31 cam which is very similar to the Peanut Cam that came in 305's and B-Body Iron Headed LT1s.

But to back the opinion others have mentioned. Why bother with a Hot-Cam (unless its free) when you can buy a newer modern lobed cam with similar duration that will out perform the hot-cam in all area's without sacrificing anything. Newer cams have faster ramp rates and provide more power under the curve, extended top-end power, and better response.

If you want to look clueless then a sure fire way is to turn on the infinite scroll. Works every time.
