Throttle cable used in LSX swap
Throttle cable used in LSX swap
I'm finally back in the game after having sold my 4th Gen back in '09.... I'm swapping in an LQ4 with an LS3 top end ,a DBC Throttle Body and a T56 The car is an '86 Iroc . The car was originally a carbed LG4 305 ( low output, but what 305 ever was high output!) and a 700R4. The throttle cable won't reach the TB because the carb linkage was in the middle of the motor on the driver side. I purchase a 2000 4th gen Fbody cable but the end going in to the firewall is smaller and circle shaped were the original is square shaped. What cable are you LS swap guys using? TPI cable? A part number would be super appreciated....
Re: Throttle cable used in LSX swap
After searching again, I found to be what looks to be the cleanest way to do it by combining the 3rd gen and 4th gen cables. SO....a total of 3 hrs searching and reading thru threads lead me to this: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...ml#post5823889

Re: Throttle cable used in LSX swap
I just used the 4th gen cable outright. At first I just had it butted up to the hole in the firewall and it never caused a problem for me. It was fairly secure just from the tension of the actual cable in the sheathing. I was going to weld in a patch to poke a hole through, but I ended up putting a fender washer on the inside of the firewall. I found one with or drilled the hole to the proper size and popped it on. You will probably want to remove the little foam pad on the firewall end of the cable.

I used the link from QwkTrip's post. It looks factory and was easy to do. I have found a lot of useful info in that link after discovering it. Nice job, QwkTrip!
