Question About Smog

I have a question if anyone can answer this for me. Ok I am going to get a 92 Z28 and its going to have the L98 in it already. Say if i take the motor out and stroke the motor and put some good speed parts on it and they will be emissions legal. Do I have to go do anything before I go ahed and do this? Do I have to go to a referee and tell him what I am going to do? Or what do I do? Anyone who can help me with this I would appreciate it thanks.

Remeber, that there are two parts to the bi-annual inspection, the visual and the sniffer. You'll need to be careful that your cam isn't so big that you fail the sniffer. Other than that, nobody will know what's inside (whether or not its "legal"), which leaves the visual. As long as the parts that are obviously not stock (intake, headers) have CARB approval, you should be OK. I would suggest you take evidence of the CARB approval for these parts when you go for inspection especially if you get selected to go to a test only station.
