86 Camaro (LB9) into an 88 Camaro with a (LB8) simple as it sounds?
i've got a donor car with an LB9 and stock trans. Worth swapping it out? 60 ish HP gain? Anything i'm missing other than some better springs up front?

yes it will be pretty easy relatively straight forward. since you have the complete donor car you should have most everything you will need. you will need to confirm the wiring for the engine harness to the C100, C207, etc connection points. you may have some items to consider there but it should be pretty simple to understand looking through the wiring manuals for each.
