Engine SwapEverything about swapping an engine into your Third Gen.....be it V6, V8, LTX/LSX, crate engine, etc. Pictures, questions, answers, and work logs.
Hello, Ive swapped out my old 305 for a 350, i have not a single clue on how to wire the motor up to run, i did and A/C delete so that whole wiring thing is already figured out, but the rest im lost on, its my first engine swap ive ever done and would like some help. please and thank you!
distributor is out right now i was thinking i was close to getting it running and took it out to prime the oil pump and make sure everything was lubricated, also i am not on a unlimited budget and just want to get it running so i have something to cruise around in from time to time while i save for the parts i want so yes there is rusty old 305 accessories on this block
Looks like you missed connecting a ground strap at the back of the block and at the front. Also no clamp on the heater hose that goes to the top of the water pump. Also you need to wire the alternator.
If you pulled the old motor, remember to mark everything before disconnecting next time.

Hey! Glad to see another doing the swap. I'm a few months out from making the swap as well on my 92 bird. If you don't mind when you're all done come write up how it went, mistakes, resolutions, and learning points for those of us about to do the same. Would appreciate it!
