has anyone swapped to a 283
just wondering my brother has a project he's wanting to do about a 283 and build it up and was wondering if that would make a good engine for a trans am would that be faster that a stock 305? thanks in advance

Considering that building any SBC engine---regardless of displacement---will cost roughly equally, it doesn't make much sense to build a 283 over, say a 350 or even a 383.

1950s nostalgia is the only reason I would build a 283.Could also also rock in an old skool hotrod or trike.
