5.7 swapping a 1987 camaro RS

hey im 16 and just got a 1987 camaro RS as my first car. im looking to swap it with a LS1 5.7 and was wondering how much should i look to pay for it and what parts do i need.
im trying to get one from a 4th gen camaro and also what transmission would be better 700R4 or the 4L60e. and finally what would be the best rear end if im trying to get near 400HP and 400 tourqe

Look to spend probably more than the car is worth. If you want an LS car its cheaper and less headache to just buy one in the first place.

Keep the car stock. Learn about the car inside and out by fixing all the current broken stuff. Upgrade parts that will be needed to support 400hp, and learn to dive with the current power levels. 400hp + Inexperienced driver = recipe for disaster. My that's my inner Dad in me, but you can still scratch the itch of working on your car by starting small and going bigger down the road.
