Doesn't have to be a high Rev high hp build. Want tons of low end torque.
540ci and chang to a 6sp.
Watching richard Holdener he made a 649ftlb monster all in by 4700 I believe
https://youtu.be/9RwvKUXQmhY
I'd love to have that. Parts from summit w/sniper efi, using the brodix 320 heads w/119cc instead of the Trick flow 320's w/122cc. Im also choosing to up the compression just a little by using -9 dome. And a torker 2.
my wife said do it 1 time so do it right..... what do the experts and experience think?????

Big blocks certainly have their appeal in the right situation, but I just don't like them in our cars. If money is no option I would go big cube LS, and have about the same power, better fitment along with hundreds of pounds less weight on the front.
10-4 on that. But I guess it's the thought of OLS SKOOL BIG BLOCK just sends chills down my spine
Chevy perf block 4.50 piston 4.25 stroke 9.8deck
scat rot assembly, forged piston (-9cc) and rods, cast crank, thin gaskets
rolling thunder 2264
rpm air gap
But I'm stuck on possible torque between
Dragon slayer 320
Trick flow 280 oval port
Or
Trick flow 320
looking for 1 ton truck pulling power at <3500rpm and decent up top power

Decided on zz502 short block. And now I still the most torque coming in as low as possible. It's going in a 91rs v6 to v8 conversion. 4sp auto and posi 3:42 . I found an article that gets over 600ftlb

My (former) 86 TA has a 502 BBC and a TKO500. GM specs it out at 580 LB/FT @3600 RPM. A cam upgrade probably pushed that to over 600 at a higher RPM. It pulled like the proverbial freight train clear to 6k where the limiter was set.
Fitment is a PITA but doable. The Hooker Super Comp headers followed a somewhat unusual route once past the front subframe. Wiper motor contacts the valve cover. A 4" cowl hood was needed. No room for an oil filter in the conventional location so a remote filter was hung in front of rad support. Ground clearance was miserable with anything other than stock ride height springs. One smashed oil pan and then a bell housing hit prompted the removal of the 1-1/2" drop springs.
It was built to drag race but the power was untenable with a street style suspension. The car would simply not hook with a slicks only approach. It eventually was mothballed and didn't see the street again for nearly 10 years when my nephew took it home. It still sits today.
This was put together more than twenty years ago. I'm guessing there might be some improved aftermarket support for the swap today. That said, if there was a round two, I'd go a big inch SBC before anything else.
As noted above, if LS is your thing, I'd jump straight to the LSX454.

I like the zz502 long block but wanted better heads and cam. I'm keeping stock height and aluminum heads & intake. Stock K member. 4l80e. Serpentine belt. No a.c, 3:42 posi, brke upgrade, it has fourthgen rear w/disk brake already.

RIP to that rear. You'll need a beefier rear if you want to enjoy that big block Originally Posted by budget builder

hahahahahahahahahahaha🤣🤣🤣🤣
yes sir i already know. Im going on the hunt for a 12bolt for a thirdgen. Or maybe a currie ford 9in.
Hahahahaha KABOOM!!!!!
I found a pair of afr 265 i think will be better heads for the 502 short block. And will support a bit bigger cam. Now im thinking about using thise roval ports on a 540 short block.
THIS IS MY 2023 XMAS PRESENT TO MYSELF. HAHAHAHA

I just realized that about the same $$$$ I can go 540ci in a shortblock. Or are these heads to small? Remember I'm looking for tons of torque down low. I was looking at the dragon slayers 320 also. I'm not quite sure. The research continues......

If street car manners are important, as in drivability, cold start, highway MPG, how much street, how much track?

OP screen name does not check out. lol

All street no race, never over 6k rpm. Just plenty of umph when playing around and maybe pin the wife to the seat so she can't reach the $100 bill on the dash. Over 500 lbft from about 2k thru 5k and peak over 600lbft early (peak b4 4k) . Let the HP fall where it may. Using 295's in rear, mYbe 305 if they fit on 18x9.5 vettes.
That y I was thinking 502/540 oval port and dual plane with rolling thunder cam. Sniper system and 4l80e. Aluminum head/intake. Rebuilt ( stock) front end, 12bolt disk rear, big brake upgrade, good shocks, stock height, 2in cowl. I'm thinking keeping heads near 270/280cc runners, 2.25/188 valves, 9-10:1, i hope I can keep combustion chamber 110/112, even if I got to use small domes. That way I don't have to mill heads. Serp assembly, mark viii fan w/ 2sp controller. Fyi, I already have sniper w/ fuel pump on 350 w/ xe274h, and I'm willing to do a 2-2400 stall and I already have a tranny cooler , w/ rpm air gap
For once budget, while important, is going out the window.

I just don't want to lose torque b/c I mismatched the cam/heads/intake, Cam events or LCA, too big valves.

1. https://cnc-motorsports.com/cnc-comp...1-pistons.html ($6500)
2. Trick flow 320 powerport heads ($2600 pair)
3. dual plane rec port intake 1500-6k ($450)
4. Rolling thunder 2264 (<$400)
***With getting supporting parts and hardware.***
Will this work? Is cam too big? Should I go smaller flat tappet? Any help appreciated

Okay fellas here we go I'm back to being budget Builder. I have the opportunity to build me a garage and instead of a 24x24 if I budget this car correctly I might be able to go to 24x30 or 24x35. So guess what I'm choosing to do. I have to take my 6.0 lq4 out of my Silverado and replace it with another stock engine so I have a 6.0 to play with. Instead of trying to go over budget and turn it into a 408 which I do believe would be a twerk monster. Instead I'm opting to go for the stock rebuild which the man told me he could do for $2,500. (1YR/12K) warranty. Instead of putting the stock Pistons back in it I was thinking about going with the small Dome to up the compression and then finding me a nice cam. I can take the money that's left over from not doing the big block and put me some 3:73 gears in it instead of the 3:42 posi that is in it I can also rebuild the front end back to stock. (New bushings and such) front end alignment, 255front tires and 295-305 rear. I already have the wheels. Get it painted and enjoy my car. I'm thinking about maybe a 110LSA. A 4l80 W/2,500 stall. My only question is how bad with this ( https://www.summitracing.com/parts/hrs-192435-10) or https://www.summitracing.com/parts/cca-54-600-11 will these cams hurt me if I wanted to cruise from let's say Four Oaks to Myrtle Beach which is about two and a half hours one way it's 70 to 80 mph and a 4l80 with a 2500 stall? Would the transmission overheat? because of the height of the stall and the cruising RPMs and the four speed. would it burn up the transmission? what would be the biggest problem? Ptv clearance? Street manners!!!! Well, it does need to have them but I'm willing to work with it for my rumpety-rump. Mostly a weekend cruiser and attention getter. I figures that if an lq4 can get a 5700lb truck up and moving pretty dang good that maybe a 3400lb car would do good too.
Forgot to mention:
I've already got a sniper system and I believe the one I have has the tranny controller. I would just need the ignition controller. And maybe shorten driveshaft. Idk
6.0ls (1 3/4 headers, 2into1 3in out exhaust no cats) 🤷
4l80
2500 stall
Fourthgen 3:73 posi, disk
Stock front (new everything)
Sniper
Front accsy (pick a part yard)
F body OP
Mark viii fan( already have)
Vette wheels ( already have)
255/295 rear
Custom length driveshaft ( maybe)
Talk to me, b/c id love to not have to buy new pistons...... please help thx
