should i do it?????

ok, this is how it goes, i had an 86 Trans Am that had a 305 in it... and i sold it to a friend, but he blew it up and wants to trade me even up for my 86 Gran Dam.....now the trans am comes with a 350, 4 bolt main with a 4bb. i was just wondering if i should take it or not and if the 700r4 will bolt up to the 350??? thanks for any help......

Is the 350 in good condition? What induction (carb, TPI) did the 305 have?

The 350 will bolt to the TH700, the only question is what vintage is the 350? If '85-older, it will have a two-piece rear main seal and the 305 flex plate will not bolt up to it. If '86-newer, no problem.

Assuming you're not receiving something that will have to have a complete going over, it sounds like a decent trade. Even if the 350 needs a rebuild (assuming no rods sticking out where they shouldn't), it could be considered a deal.

the 350 is carb...... but it needs a timing chain, but i was told that the timing chain off the 305 will work.....and it also needs some gaskets and seals but my friend said he would help me put it in and get it running before we sign any title's........i guess the motor is out of a truck......but the trans am is an 86... i have one more question, i have an 90 firebird with an 3.1 MPFI in it. i have an oil leak at the back of the intake, i was just wondering, how much of a pain in the @ss it would be to fix it???? the leak aint that bad or anything, bout a quart every 3 weeks or so....i should have had it fixed when i had the freeze plugs put in but i didn't have the money...thanx for the help
