So I am thinking of pulling the motor and dropping in a 305 the from an 87 iroc in my 91 5.7 car. I have searched and been reading other threads but i dont know what i dont know. I have a perfectly good 87 305 fully dressed on an engine stand and dont want to rush the rebuild of have the car not running. All perspectives are welcome. I’ve already purchased most of what i need for the rebuild with the exception off heads(im considering) and cam and lifters.

what complications am i looking at?
chip?
cold start port on 87 motor?

 

Use this chip and 19#hr injectors. Hawks has the 9th injector delete if using the 85-88 rail temperatly .

Forgot to mention you might want to use the 89-92 runners and map plenum. That or just the 89-92 throttle body so you won’t have to change throttle cable. The 90-92 plenum has an extra vacuum port for the map. Could delete the hvac if temp swap.
