350 SB build

Good Morning all,
I have an old Square Body in the barn that with a fresh 350 that was built in 1993. The engine has about 10K miles on it and runs nice.
Currently it has
Flat Top Pistons
RV Cam
Eldelbrock Performer Intake
Holley 650
Paired with stock heads and exhaust manifolds.
We already have a new exhaust with headers just have never put them on yet. We are going to need the truck here soon but it has a fuel leak on the carb. While rebuilding the carb I figured we might as well put some heads on it and help this thing breath.

What heads should I use? I've read a lot about the Vortec heads but not sure which ones. Is there a better option than Vortec? Can I buy something new? I need to be able to have the heads ready to bolt on fairly soon as we need this truck ASAP.

The goal is to make the truck a nice street driver with a good sound and some low end torque. Not planning on any racing or nothing like that. One possible considerations is that I'd entertain adding a fuel Injection system if I get some good endorsements in that area.

Suggestions please.

Re: 350 SB build

Any idea what heads are on the engine now? usual stock on a squarebody are 76 cc smoggers ,but valve size can vary-1.94 intake is usuall on a 1/2 ton.Squarebody era casting #s are 993-~73-74,882 75-79, 624 79-86. Vortecs are well known on this site, but beware used ones are often cracked and you will need different intake manifold (Vortec intake ports are positioned higher ) and some other mods are needed. Changing the heads is easy,so might be good to get the truck working good and then swap out the heads after you have seen how it works first

the truck runs good it just has a fuel leak on one of the carb rails. It's being rebuilt this week. I'll have these heads pulled by Wednesday. I can post the castings. But, either way they're going to be removed. This motor was installed in 93' replacing a straight 6. I'm pulling the exhaust and manifolds off. I'm probably going to change the cam also. I'd like to have something sporty but not a racing cam that's hard to drive.
