2.8 Substitutions
2.8 Substitutions
Hi everyone, newbie here. I recently purchased an MGB with a swapped 2.8 V6 which apparently was sourced from a 1984 Camaro. I plan to rebuild the engine but in the meantime would like to source out a replacement motor. There don't seem to be a lot of available 2.8's sourced from 84 Camaros where I live. Can someone please educate me and let me know what other cars had the same engine, I've heard the S10 and maybe a Fiero? This might help me in my search! The 2.8 obviously fits nicely and all the mounts etc. are in place so not sure if I want to deviate from that, but always open to suggestions. Thank you in advance!

Have you searched for a 3.1? It *should* fall right into the 2.8 spot. They were the same design, just larger displacement for the newer engine. Even the later 3.4 might fall right into place, but I'd suggest researching any differences to know what you're getting into.

would have to be f-body or S10 - Fiero is transverse engine. Some say the shorter stroke of the 2.8 makes it more satisfying to drive with a stick transmission..

Re: 2.8 Substitutions
If Interested I have a 2.8 multi port with 12,600 miles on it if interested, I also would include the harness and computer. I also have the auto transmission with the same milage.
I would take $800 for both plus freight
