LO3 to Goodwrench 350 swap ?
I currently have a tired LO3 in my 91 RS. I just want a little more power. Im on a tight budget so i will probably buy a goodwrench 350 for about $1300. I would go with a carb on top. My question is which parts could i reuse and which parts would i have to buy?
I'm also cursed with a tired LO3. I have been reading alot on the TBI board and thinking about getting a L05 crate engine. They are around $1485.00 from Jim Pace or Scogin-Dickey. This seems to be the most direct 350 replacement for the L03. I think that all you will need is 350 injectors, knock sensor, and chip. I have read that these engines are rated around 210-220 hp. This is not exactly the info that you are asking for. I have no first hand knowledge of this I'm just passing along what I've read. If I have some info wrong will someone on yhe board please set the record straight.

I ditched the computer and all related sensors. You will have to replace the distributor. And you can use the stock in-tank fuel pump if you get a fuel pressure regulator w/return line fitting.Or you can get a mechanical pump, but you have to install a pick-up in the tank.I just used the elec pump and bought a Mallory fuel press regulator. If your car is automatic, you'll need a different bracket for your throttle and tv cable.I used a universal bracket from Autozone. That is all I can think of off hand.

Robs91, I replaced my very tired TPI 305 with a goodwrench replacement, swirl port heads and all. With all the 305 stuff swapped over it dynoed at 181 RWHP annd 239 RWTQ. This is pretty close to 210 at the crank (given 20% losses) that GM claim.
I have since, put on headers, a 350 chip, a 350 knock sensor, 24# injectors, SLP CAI, ported plenum, bumped timing, Y-pipe, hi flo cat, 3"dynomax cat back. The engine is a torque monster, but runs out of puff at 4500-5000 rpm. I will later change the cam and heads, but for a cheap fix, it works pretty well, and gives mid 6 second 0-60 times. Quite an improvement from the 305.
All depends what you want to do.
Cheers
Richard
