Need opinins please
I am going to have a local custom vette shop put the works to my camaro, this includes the motor swap and some body work, etc...
Mild to mid 383 LT1
Mild build LS1 (no internal changes)
LS6
They told me the LS1 and the 383 will cost me the same in their shop and the LS1 will be more reliable, have more power and torque, better gas mileage, and will just be cooler.
Since he build vette's (had a 69 roadster 'vert putting a ram air 502 into, it was SWEET) he can get LS6's. The problem? 10k just for the engine! But 400HP/405 Torque and 20-25 mpg...
I am thinking the LS1, but would really like to hear all opinions on the subject. Thanks Guys...
PS I get AC on all of them.

What shop?
As for the swap, whats nice about doing the LS1 (for you anyway) is if its done right you can remain smog legal. If he can do that for the same cost as a 383 (which would surprise me) I would seriously consider going that route.
Dont waste your time on the LS6. Too expensive.

There's a shop over in Fullerton California. I came across it quite by accident. And the estimate is actually mine. With an LS1 going for around 2k by itself and an LT1 1k.. It makes sense as the internals, port work, etc,,, for the LT1 would all need to be done BEFORE adding on headers, CAI, or what have you... So the LS1 will be the cheaper or the same cost, but the LS1 will make more power. Now installation they said 100 hours... That seems a bit much... We will have to discuss that, but since I want a carbon fibre drive shaft, 12 bolt rear, etc... Im sure arrangements can be made :-D
