Can I expect 475HP with this setup?
I know that it is almost next to impossible to get accurate HP and TQ figures without putting a car on the dyno, but I still have a while to go before the motor is ready to be dropped in. This is gonna be a long post so I will apologize now.......Sorry for the long post. Ok, now down to the goods. Here is the basic layout of my engine.. 350 SBC 4 bolt main bored +.060 and honed with a torque plate. The block was squared .010 and then decked an additional .010 so I have 0 deck clearance. Stock cast crank that has been cut .010/.010. GM X rods with ARP rod bolts. Flat top hypereutectic pistons that have a 9.35:1 CR with a 64cc head. Edelbrock Performer RPM aluminum heads w/64 cc chambers 2.02/1.60 valves. Edelbrock Performer RPM camshaft .488/.510 lift with 234/244 duration@.050 tappet lift. I'm using the RPM Air Gap manifold with a 1 inch Phenolic 4 hole carb spacer. Carb is an Edelbrock Performer 750CFM with a manual choke and a K&N substack. Air element is a K&N 14 by 5 inch. The motor has 1.5 roller rockers as well as '4 corner cooling'. Jet hot coated Hooker Super Competition Long tube headers that will be mated to a mufflex y pipe and exhaust. Ignition is MSD street pro billet distributor with a Blaster Pro HVC coil, 6AL box, and 8.5mm super conducter wires. The Edlebrock RPM package is guaranteed to make 420HP with a 9.5:1 CR and I figured that with my pistons and a 0 deck height I should be in the neighborhood of about 10:1? I realy would like to get this motor to hit the 475HP mark on the motor. I welcome any opinins. Thanks in advance for any replies to this thread. Thanks again, Paul Moore

So then I will say about 420. However, there are a LOT better grinds out there than the Edelbrock cam. And by A LOT, I mean A LOT. Comp Extreme energy grinds come to mind, as do the Crane Powermax grinds. Lunati and Crower also have good cams, as does Iskenderian.
