350 blocks
350 blocks
will any year 350 block work with our cars. i meen will our sensors, engine mounts, and trany, bolt up. i was told before that some time in the early 80's the 350 blocks were changed. so basically will a 350 from say a 60's car fit into my 87 iroc.

Basically the same discussion as this https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...threadid=87936 .
Other than what you stuff in them (like forged pistons), the differences from your '87 would be dipstick location, rear main seal type, and cam type (roller or flat tappet).
Assuming you go older, that is, and not newer. Otherwise, things will all bolt up.

Sometime in the mid '70's, accessory bolt holes were added to heads. Blocks shouldn't be an issue as far as that goes.
1980 was the beginning of the passenger side dipstick.
1986 was the first year of the one piece rear main seal (not 1987
)
and 1987 was the first year of a roller cam provisioned block. Not all 1987 - up SB's came with roller cams, but all will accept one easily.
As far as knock sensor in the block, that's the only thing I can think of being an issue on blocks.

Correct, '86-up had one-piece rear main seal. That's not what I meant by "...differences between your '87 block...". Remember, the basic question was fitting a 60's 350 block into an '87 car.
I had a '79 Caprice 305 with passenger side dipstick. 305 & 350 may have switched in different years. Some changes appeared mid-year, and where the car was made could affect what you got. They've been wierd about things like that.
The knock sensor screws into the water jacket drain hole, which has been there since 1955.
