v6 to v8
v6 to v8
Okay gentleman, i know it can be done i just need to know how. Im going to assume it would just be easier to get rid of the comp entirely, but if i did that how would i wire up the AC and the tach. On top of that, what the hell all do i need?
P.S. If i wanted to keep the comp, could i use the wiring harness off of a carbed v6?????

Yes, the swap can be done. But, the only way to use the V6 harness is if you lengthen/shorten/move the wires going to various things. Not really worth it.
The best way to go about this is to get a factory V8 donor car from which you get all the stuff - even if you don't keep the computer controls. The AC and tach aren't affected by the computer. But, a V6 tach is different from a V8 tach.
I did an emissions-legal swap, changed all the engine harnesses, even the dash harness (just to be sure - a bunch of stuff changed because of the difference in years).
For more details about the swap itself, look through the posts for the last month or so. This question is asked every couple of weeks.
To answer a question you didn't ask: The V6 car should really have some sentimental value to it. Otherwise, it just isn't economical.
