please help me out, motor swap question
please help me out, motor swap question
My camaro was totalled this weekend, some stupid old women ran right into my right bumper, the whole front right of my car is smashed up. I have a opportunity in purchasing a really nice v-6 camaro and i was wondering if my 305 block isn't cracked, could i swap my 305 TBI into the v-6? What parts would i need, and what parts could i still use from my wreck (pending the fact that i can salvage most of the parts) And does anyone have like step my step directions in doing the swap, thanks a lot.

Let's put this into simple terms:
Yes, possible. Take everything off your wrecked V8 car that is different than the V6 car, and put it in the V6 car. A step-by-step list is less benefitial than having the two cars side-by-side, taking pictures before you start, marking things as you disassemble (on both cars), and going for it.
On the other hand:
It makes a lot more sense to find a nice factory V8 car with a bad engine than it does to start with a V6 car. If you get the V6 car for free, you'll spend about the same amount of money as you would if you found a factory V8 car that just needs an engine.
If I had known about this board before I started, and had done a little more research before I started, I would have come to that conclusion before I got into it. Love my car, I just spent a lot more money and time on it than I would have if I would have had the above knowledge before I started.
