Vortec heads on a 305
I am looking at maybe buying a set of vortecs for my 305. If I got them shaved to about 9:1 compression and got the proper manifold, would I see a major gain over my factory heads? The heads I have now are the factory TBI heads with a 3-angle valve job. They have also been mildly ported and polished.
Thanks guys

hey iroc22 what are your best 1/4 mile times with your setup? also i have an 89 firebird with a 305 TBI and i am lookin to get th most poer possible out of it. i originnaly was gonna switch to carb and put a cam in with full ignition and a intake. now my question to u is if i keep my tbi and get a cam and an edelbrock intake wut do u think my numbers would be at the track and do u think going with carb would be a better idea? also keep in mind that i have no way of getting a custom chip burned. thanks in advance

thanks for the quick response! I think that those heads may be the next mod if I can draw that kind of power. As far as the cam goes, I wouldn't call it lopey, but it is definately noticable.
Thanks,
Matt
