How many of you have swapped a 3.1 liter for a 305 TPI. I was wondering because i am in a posistion to get an 87 trans am for free. Body is shot beyond fixing. But the motor and tranny are on fresh rebuilds. It has been sitting for about 6 months, but he said he starts it every week. The guy is my dads bets friend so i believe him. I am just looking for success stories, or horror stories about swapping these motors. I searched the boards and found multiple questions on the swap. I just want to know about the aftermath(problems,etc...) My car is a 91, will that make it even harder?

 

I just recently did a 3.1 V6 swap to a carbed 350 V8.
Now I'm putting the finishing touches on it this
summer (exhaust, lowering springs, new paint).
It's not nearly as easy as doing a swap from a V8 to a V8 (duh).
It cost more and takes more time
(the donor car will save you money).
The best advice I can give is to listen to Five7kid.

Getting a Free car is always good....The swap is difficult but fun, and very rewarding..just do alot of research and do alot of research, and do alot of research...and yes 5-seven is my hero too!!!
