LT1 guage cluster in TPI car.......

FIRST QUESTION:
I'm trying to figure out if I can use my TPI computer with LT1 dash wiring (pre ODB II). We swaped a '88 GTA TPI motor for a '87 GN motor and we used the GN computer and the GTA dash wiring plugged right up to it. The GTA had a digital dash and everything worked perfectly with no modifications.

SECOND QUESTION:
If I use an LT1 dash, is the A/C vent routing close enough to make it work?

Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hmm, you should be able to use the TPI computer to hook to an LT1 dash. What I would do in your case is get the wiring manuals for your car (what year and what car do you have?) and a wiring manual for the year of the dash you're trying to fit. The swap has been done before so the heating and AC lines can be made to match up. For the most part, LT1's used sensors that are compatible to your thirdgen dash. You just have to wire the dash to the sensors appropriately, and hope to have a tranny VSS, if not, you'll have to get VSS put into your tranny (not hard). The only thing you'd have to do is wire up the individual buls that come off the ecm and whatnot, all your indicator lights such as airbags (if you have them), the brake warning light, hi beams, well you get the picture. This is all assuming the dash doesn't just plug in (I'd put my money on it not hooking up directly). But the swap has been done by very patient people, and it looks awesome when complete....so there you have your motivation and good luck!
